Potter signed HC with trademark balance wheel logo inside rear, Jurgensen-style lips, glazed observation cover over mvt, bow with chain guards, white enamel SS dial, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement with counterpoise, 20J, fausses-cĂ´tes pattern nickel damascene, s#31. Gross weight of assembled watch 83.2 dwt (129.4 g). An exquisite example of this top quality maker's work, Albert H. Potter was born in New York in 1836 though the majority of his watchmaking activity took place after his emigration to Switzerland in about 1875.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, good setting function with unusual as-made design that requires crown to be lifted up two positions for setting operation (rather than lifted a single position as most watches are with stem-setting function), excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces with few typical mild micro-fine scratches; dial with two very faint hls from center to upper portion, minuscule nick and hl above seconds-register, scratch at perimeter above 3; nearly mint hands of differing colors, hour and minute are plum colored, seconds-hand is blue; case shows hardly any wear, no dents or dings, superb crisp engine turning detail; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystals.
